Augie Sweethearts: Tom Pogemiller '70 and Carol Iverson '69 Pogemiller

As a freshman pledge at Augie in 1967, I decided to get involved with Homecoming. I was told the best way to do that was to volunteer. The only position open was for a male cheerleader. What?! I was not a cheerleader but signed up anyway. The captain of the cheer squad was Christa Hauser '69 Lohmeier; her good friend Carol Iverson was also a cheerleader. Christa asked Carol if she would be willing to accept me as a partner since I was the smallest guy with no athletic ability!! Luckily for me, Carol accepted me, and that was the beginning of our great relationship.

We were married in 1971, had three children all baptized by Swanie at Campus Church and now have eight fantastic grandchildren and in a couple of weeks, we will celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary. Thank you Augie and thanks to God for my blessing—I am indeed blessed.
