Saveurs d’Afrique (Flavors of Africa)
The Office of Student Cultural Connection will host Saveurs d’Afrique (Flavors of Africa), where attendees can experience African cultures through food, conversation, and storytelling.
Sierra Club meeting
The Sierra Club will hold its weekly meeting to round out Earth Week.
Planting by the Slough
Augustana’s grounds crew will lead students in planting plants around the Slough from 1-2 p.m. Gloves and tools will be provided. Students are welcome to stay for the whole time or part of the time to assist.
Nature and mental health
Augie Acres and the Augustana chapter of the Gray Matters Collective will talk about using nature to practice mindfulness and its effect on mental health. Afterward, there will be a craft activity for students to bring nature into their dorm or house. Snacks will be provided.
"Virunga" Watch Party
The Film Club will host a screening of the documentary "Virunga." Popcorn and drinks will be provided.
Nature Walk at Sylvan Island
Augustana’s Student Government Association will be leading a trip to Sylvan Island in Moline to explore the island and take in nature. Transportation will be provided by ACES with pick up outside the Gerber Center, or students can meet there.
Planting Day
Augie Acres and Delta Chi Theta will plant spring crops from noon-2 p.m. There will be a raffle to win Augie Acres merchandise and gardening kits. Afterward, lunch will be provided courtesy of Delta Chi Theta. Anyone is welcome to come and help, regardless of experience.
Nahant Marsh Spring Cleanup
Join the Nahant Marsh team for the annual spring cleanup from 9-11 a.m. Work will focus on cleaning along Wapello and South Concord streets by the marsh. This is a family-friendly cleanup.
