SAC P:150 Charles August Johnson biographical notes

Charles August Johnson was born in Sweden in 1842 and came to the United States in 1868. Johnson became interest in ornithology after hearing and seeing tropical birds during his early seaman years abroad. He carved and painted hundreds of realistic birds from wood. The collection contains three pages of typewriting biographical notes from various sources titled “Writeups Concerning Mr. Charles August Johnson, Bird Carver: Collection Given Augustana Historical Society.”

Carl Allvar Kullgren inventory and article copies, 1983

Carl Allvar Kullgren (1826-1887) traveled from Sweden to San Francisco to participate in the gold rush from 1850-1855. Collection consists of a copy of an article detailing his experiences in California and a copy of the index to the Kullgren archival records held at Göteborgs landsarkiv.

The papers consists of a typescript biography of Mary Strand Andreen (1870-1948) and a typescript biography of Edwin Johnson (1894-1958), Metropolitan Opera singer who went by the name of Eyvind Laholm, both written by Esther Andreen Albrecht.
