Becoming American immigration film series coming to the Quad Cities

Becoming American: A Documentary Film and Discussion Series on Our Immigration Experience, an NEH program, is coming to the Quad Cities this spring. Becoming American is a six-week public program featuring documentary film screenings and moderated discussions designed to encourage an informed discussion of immigration issues against the backdrop of our immigration history.

'The Glass Menagerie' coming up July 13-15, 20-22

The Mississippi Bend Players will present the Tennessee Williams' classic "The Glass Menagerie" July 13-15 and 20-22. The 1944 play, which catapulted Williams to fame, is the story of officer, dreamer and poet Tom Wingfield, who reminisces about working in a warehouse and living  with his overbearing mother and shy sister .

MLK celebration to include youth forum

Passing the Torch, an annual community-wide celebration and tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will take place Jan. 16 at Augustana. For the first time, the celebration will include a community youth forum.
