Trash Dash
Her Campus and the Augustana Sierra Club are sponsoring a service project, Trash Dash, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Each group will get bags to clean up campus. The cost is $3 per person, and all funds will be donated to Quad Cities Earth.
Magician Mike Super
(Note: This performance is open only to students, faculty, staff and visitors on campus for Family Weekend.)
Magician Mike Super is the winner of NBC's "PHENOMENON," and a top finalist from "America's Got Talent." He's also appeared on numerous TV shows in the United States and abroad, including "Fool US" and "Ellen."
Tickets are available at the door as well as online and by phone.
Comedian Kiry Shabazz
Kiry Shabazz is a stand-up from Cleveland, now based in L.A.
He started in comedy in northern California and became a regular at the Punchline, Rooster T Feathers, and Cobb’s. He’s won first place at the Rooster T Feathers Comedy Competition, has been a World Series of Comedy Satellite Competition winner, and was selected for the Laughing Skull Festival. He was the winner of the 2017 Stand-Up NBC competition.
Pre-optometry info session
Dr. Erik Mothersbaugh '08, dean of student affairs at the Illinois College of Optometry, will visit campus to talk with students interested in pre-optometry.
Discussion topics will include optometry school and how to be a competitive applicant.
This field of medicine is in need of new doctors: Three new optometry schools have opened in the past few years and several programs are under development.
Patriot Day observance
Patriot Day is held on Sept. 11 every year in memory of the people killed in the Sept. 11 attacks of the year 2001. A moment of silence is observed to correspond with the attacks, beginning at 8:46 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time), the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
The Meditation Room in the Lindberg Center will be open from noon-1 p.m. for reflection and prayer.
Pre-nursing info session
First-year and sophomore students are invited to get an overview of the different paths into a nursing career
Dr. Dara Wegman-Geedey will review the pre-nursing program and answer any questions so students can get the big picture for courses and possible internships or jobs in the next three-four years.
Augustana has both a BA/BSN dual degree and a BA/MSN dual degree with the Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences in Rock Island, but there are many options to consider.
(A second identical session will begin at 2 p.m.)
Business Club meeting: Anna Pfalzgraf '19
The Business Club will host Anna Pfalzgraf '19. She received her bachelor's degree in communications and graphic design. She is currently employed at the Rock Island Arsenal.
