He's the latest recipient of the Swedish Council of America's prestigious Seaborg Scholarship, which comes with a trip to the Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar. Merhi is one of 25 young scientists from around the world to attend this year's seminar and Nobel ceremonies.
Stone Lectureship in Judaism
The Stone Lectureship in Judaism was established in 1983 by family and friends of Dr. and Mrs. Alex B. Stone. The purpose of the endowment is to provide a yearly lecture and an expanded program in Judaic studies at Augustana College. The lectures began in 1984.
National Endowment for the Arts funds community art project at Augustana
The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded the Augustana Teaching Museum of Art a $15,000 Art Works grant to fund a community yarn bomb project on campus this fall. This is the first National Endowment for the Arts grant awarded to the college.
Hoffmann '15 wins Fifty for the Future award
Augustana senior Mark Hoffmann has been selected as a winner of the Fifty for the Future award by the Illinois Technology Foundation. He is a native of Lansing, Ill., majoring in pre-medicine and engineering physics and minoring in mathematics and computer science. Fifty for the Future encourages education and industry to support students who aspire to achievement in technology.
