Campus parking rules and regulations

Lottery information

New students may apply for a parking permit after receiving their housing assignments from Residential Life in mid-July. The new student parking lottery will take place at 9 a.m. on Aug. 14, 2026.

At that time, Facilities Services will review all parking permit requests submitted by new students based on their housing assignments or commuter status. The number of available parking spaces in each residence area lot will then be compared to the number of requests received.

If the number of requests does not exceed the number of available spaces, all requesting students will receive a permit for that lot. If requests exceed the number of available spaces, a lottery will be conducted to determine which students receive permits for that location.

Students who are not selected in the lottery for their preferred residence area lot will be assigned to the next closest parking lot with available spaces.

Example:

  1. Andreen Hall: 37 parking spaces remain on Aug. 14, and 22 new students request parking for this lot. Because the number of requests does not exceed the available spaces, all 22 students receive permits for the Andreen Hall lot. No lottery is required.
  2. Seminary Hall: 15 parking spaces remain on Aug. 14, and 18 new students request parking for this lot. Because the number of requests exceeds the available spaces, a lottery is conducted. The 3 students not selected for a Seminary Hall permit will be assigned to the next closest lot with available parking.

Prices for residential and commuter permits

  • Full year: $240 (includes fall, J-term, and spring)
  • Semester only: $140 (14 weeks)
  • Partial semester: $85 (7 weeks)
  • J-term only: $45 (if full year is not purchased)

Parking lot information

Parking permits are assigned to the main parking lot/area. Augustana is a walking campus and students are expected to park only in the lots their assigned permit allows them to.

All faculty/staff lots are enforced from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Students are prohibited from parking in any faculty/staff lot during the specified hours. There are four exceptions:

  1. Lot A1 (by Seminary Hall) is for Admissions visitors at all times.
  2. The area of Lot K designated for patrons of PepsiCo is limited to hours when PepsiCo is open. Overnight parking is prohibited.
  3. Lot I (Brodhal) is for Brodahl faculty, staff, and visitors at all times.
  4. Lot Q (by the Dance Studio) has clearly posted reserved parking on the east side spaces. The west side of lot Q is designated for patrons of PepsiCo and is limited to parking only during PepsiCo’s operational hours; overnight parking is prohibited.

Parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis to anyone with the appropriate permit for the lot. It remains the responsibility of the permit holder to find a legal parking space.
