New student checklist spring 2024
This checklist will help you take all the necessary steps to get ready to attend Augustana.
In addition to this checklist, use the Admissions portal to track your progress on critical checklist items.
These items apply to all incoming first-year and transfer students.
Create your account and email
Create your Augustana network account
❑ This step must be completed in one sitting and just one time. Do not proceed with other steps until this one is complete.
→ Click on "Set up Student or Employee Account"
→ Enter your student seven-digit ID number, including the leading zero.
→ Agree to the “Communication & Campus Tech Agreement” by clicking on the box.
→ Complete all remaining steps to successfully set up your account. (Here are step-by-step instructions.)
At the end of this step, you’ll know your username and be enrolled in the password recovery system. If you have problems completing this step, call or email the ITS Helpdesk or call 309-794-7293.

❑ This step must be complete before you can register for classes.
→ Log into our Self-Service portal. Under Emergency Contacts, choose "Add New Contact." Fill out the required information and submit. Then choose "Confirm."
Advising and registration
Please do the following, in order. The earlier you complete these checklist items, the more options you have to meet with an advisor and register for your fall classes.
(First, complete all actions above under “Create your Augustana network account," and “Identify your emergency contacts.”)
❑ Complete the Math Wizard. This 3-minute tool determines whether your advisor needs additional information to guide you regarding math placement. You may be required to submit verified ACT/SAT scores or create an account in a Math learning platform called ALEKS to complete this checklist item.
❑ Complete the Language Wizard. This 3-minute tool determines whether your advisor needs additional information to guide you regarding World Language courses. You may be required to take a placement test to complete this checklist item.
❑ Learn about required courses for the major(s) you’re considering.
❑ Complete your pre-advising form. Your responses will help your advisor guide you in choosing your first semester courses at Orientation and Registration. Allow about 15 minutes to complete this form.
❑ Watch your Augustana email for an invitation to reserve your Orientation and Registration date.
Send required records
Send in your academic records
❑ Request final, official transcripts from all high schools and colleges from which you attended or received credit, due Jan. 10. This includes dual enrollment coursework.
