'The Glass Menagerie' coming up July 13-15, 20-22

The Mississippi Bend Players will present the Tennessee Williams' classic "The Glass Menagerie" July 13-15 and 20-22. The 1944 play, which catapulted Williams to fame, is the story of officer, dreamer and poet Tom Wingfield, who reminisces about working in a warehouse and living  with his overbearing mother and shy sister .

Upsala College (East Orange, N.J.) records, 1893-1995

Upsala College was a Swedish-American college, founded by the Augustana Synod, in East Orange, New Jersey form 1893 to 1995. The records largely consist of papers of the presidents and other administrative offices. Also contains some faculty publications, records of student organizations, photographs and scrapbooks depicting campus life and some audiovisual materials.

Augustana welcomes new faculty

This fall, Augustana welcomed new faculty in music, business, math and computer science, history, public health, political science, sociology, biology, Scandinavian studies, communication studies, theatre arts, religion and Japanese.

Collection of Augustana Synod Letters, 1853-1927

This collection was likely originally part of the Eric Norelius letter collection assembled in preparation for his history of the Augustana Synod. These letters relate to the founding and early history of the Augustana Synod and Swedish immigration to the Midwest. Letters are written to, from, and mention people involved in the Synod, including T.N. Hasselquist, Eric Norelius, Erland Carlsson, S.P.A. Lindahl and more. 

Larry Scott papers, 1952-2010

Larry Scott was a professor of Scandinavian Studies at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois from 1981-2013. He earned his Ph.D. in Scandinavian languages and literature at the University of Washington in 1973. Dr. Scott led the Augustana Summer School in Sweden (ASSIS) program as well as Augustana’s annual Sankta Lucia celebration. Most of these files relate to Dr. Scott’s teaching and extracurricular activities while associated with the Scandinavian Studies department at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.
